Puerto Barrios, Izabal, Guatemala

Mario Racancoj, a graduate of Baxter Institute of Biblical Studies in Honduras, and his family (wife, Sandra, and sons, one of which is bi-lingual and renders an invaluable service as translator) work in the Central American city of Pto. Barrios.

Pto. Barrios is the home of the only deep-water harbor on the Atlantic side of Guatemala. (The Pto. Barrios/Sto. Tomas area together, make up a population roughly estimated to be some 150-200,000.) Mario has been located there since March, 1995, and has not only established a healthy, growing congregation, in the place described as the most difficult city in Guatemala to do mission work, but has been very instrumental in establishing new congregations in other cities in the district.

Membership at Pto. Barrios is now about 50, after some of their members who had to travel from near-by cities to attend, now have the opportunity to work and worship in these new congregations in their home cities.
Send Mario an email to show your support for the work in Guatemala.
